WOSFL teams to hold minute silence after passing of young Girvan player

Teams playing in the West of Scotland Football League (WoSFL) will be holding a minute silence prior to kick off at their games this weekend to mark the tragic passing of Robbie Meiklem of Girvan FC.

Johnstone Burgh, Renfrew, St Peter’s, Thorn Athletic and Glenvale are all expected to take part.

In a statement, Girvan Football Club announced the passing of Robbie Meiklem, one of their Under 20’s development team players.

He passed away earlier this week at Ayr Hospital.

Girvan Football Club said: “It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of our Under 20’s Development team player Robbie Meiklem who passed away earlier this week at Ayr Hospital.

“In respect of Robbie both the Girvan Development team and First Team games this weekend have been cancelled. Also all Development and First team matches across the West of Scotland Leagues this weekend will hold a one minute silence in memory of Robbie.”
